Job Title: Brewery Manager Reports To: Director, Supply Chain and Production Location: Bakersfield, CA Position Type: Full-time FLSA Classification: Exempt Summary: Joyride's Brewery Manager provides leadership, develops best practices, and ensures the quality of craft beverages in their geographies in which they operate. In this role, s/he leads the daily brewing operations team including management of inventory, production, the use of system tools, and overall direct report oversight. This is an all encompassing, management level position that works closely with his/her Director of Supply Chain and Production to develop best-in-class brewing practices as well as innovative product offerings. We expect open and honest communication, as well as collaboration to help us execute our growth plans, and a passion and commitment to craft quality is a must. S/he takes entire responsibility for production's operational budget, achieving KPIs, and fostering long-term value for the business by scaling the facility through proactive and strategic hiring, facility, people, and operational development plans. Ideal Candidate The ideal Brewery Manager is a proven leader with strong people management skills and a desire to help Joyride and his/her team members succeed. S/he has extensive experience in craft food or beverage production, and a deep dedication and passion for quality and safety. The ideal candidate champions Joyride's core values and serves as a role model to the Production Assistants by always being punctual and detail-oriented. S/he understands and prioritizes workplace and food safety and is able to keep meticulous records and maintain high levels of compliance with all policies and procedures on his/her team. S/he also is flexible, and able to adjust to seasonality changes in demand or tweaks to the production process. What You'll Do: Manage the entire employee lifecycle of his/her team (3-5 direct reports to begin), from recruiting, onboarding, training, feedback and performance management, compensation, discipline and offboarding in alignment with our Mission and Core Values Motivate and provide ongoing coaching and development of direct reports to drive and achieve KPIs Schedule Production Assistants and Lead to fulfill production schedule, while maximizing efficiency Administer food safety and HACCP plan and perform regular audits and execute corrective actions to ensure that facility is compliant at all times; serve as point of contact for regulatory audits that may arise Provide feedback and assist where needed with scheduling production to ensure proper par inventory levels are met as well as updating weekly production plan and schedule including placing orders for raw ingredients, packaging components, and other required materials Maintain proper inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and packaging materials Run QC program, including sending samples to third-party laboratories and conducting sensory analysis Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly physical inventory counts Own and develop budget in partnership with the Director of Supply Chain and Production and Finance Coordinate plant activities by planning with other departments to anticipate and resolve operational challenges and ensure production objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner Perform and schedule maintenance and repairs to minimize production facility down time; preempt production bottlenecks and work with warehousing or the Director of Supply Chain and Production to ensure smooth ongoing operations Physically receive deliveries and enter receipt systematically Instill floor organization and plant cleanliness among facility team members and in accordance with OSHA, SQF, and all other food safety guidelines or regulations Lead and set the standard for Holding Every Bar High by creating a culture of quality and food/health safety throughout the workforce and ensuring compliance processes (both external regulations and Joyride-specific policies) are thorough, well understood, and properly implemented per Joyride's SOPs Implement facility capacity expansion as the business continues to grow including staffing and equipment, and escalate concerns over capacity constraints Manage stock levels to minimize waste and ensure availability through physical inventories and inventory management Organize product tastings to get feedback on new products or processes Physically receive deliveries and enter receipt systematically Maintain regular communication with national leadership to provide a local viewpoint on national policies and local staff issues and to keep local team abreast of company goals and news Serve as the last line of defense in production, willing and able to step into any role or job if and when necessary Work on larger departmental R&D projects as time permits What's Required: High School and/or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred Technical production skills with 2-3 years of relevant experience, including with brewing equipment; 5+ years of relevant experience preferred 2-3+ years of people management experience with demonstrated ability to build high performing teams and interest in developing team members Experience adhering to advanced OSHA and food safety programs; familiarity with SQF Level II preferred Inventory Management experience a plus Depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for craft food and beverages Champion and role model of our mission and core values - Innovate Big and Small, Hold Every Bar High, Foster Community, Get $#!T Done, and EnJOY the Ride Consistent demonstration of Joyride's core competencies and management effectiveness behaviors - effective communication, dependability, sound judgment, collaboration, technology savviness and being a company mission and vision ambassador Excellent record keeping practices, process-oriented, and strong attention to detail Prioritizes workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation and champions it in others Strong computer skills including Google Suite, ERP, and Inventory Management Systems Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes in an ever-changing work environment through effective prioritization, planning, and project management skills Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics Must be able to lift 50 lbs above your head Joyride is an equal opportunity employer and in commitment of its core value fostering community, seeks to create a diverse and inclusive work environment.
