Field Service Technician Reports To: Service Manager Employee Type:
Full-time Job Summary A field service technician will provide
quality installation, inspections, maintenance and repair service
for hoist and crane equipment. A field service technician will also
uphold the highest level of professional integrity and ethics as
required to instill customer confidence and continued success in
service. Essential Duties -- Troubleshoot, repair and inspect
overhead cranes and hoists, below the hook devices and other
lifting devices. -- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance
activities on equipment. -- Support customers by effectively
interfacing with customer and office in repairing equipment as
needed. -- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding required
repairs for customers. -- Maintain rapport with customers by
examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved
methods and techniques; and recommending system improvements. --
Service overhead crane systems by performing quality installations;
performing OSHA/ANSI equivalent inspections; documenting and
completing warranty work; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing
preventive maintenance; and responding to emergency
service/breakdown calls. -- Document service and installation
actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist. --
Builds and maintains customer confidence by maintaining good
response time, informing customer of problems, and completing the
job in a timely manner. -- Maintain professional presentation,
timeliness, appearance, and organization in all areas. Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) Indicators of success and
satisfactory job performance will include but may not be limited

-- Ability to fabricate and weld structures (structural welding
only if certified). -- Ability to perform inspections to OSHA/ANSI
criteria -- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits, single or
three phase and AC or DC. -- Ability to assemble and repair complex
machinery. -- Excellent communication skills. -- Ability to work at
heights. -- Willingness to travel. -- Safety oriented. -- Maintain
confidentiality. -- Quality and results driven. -- Good driving
record. -- Ability to drive a service truck with a trailer. --
Ability to drive in in-climate weather including but not limited to
rain, sleet, snow, high wind, and icy conditions. -- Ability to
drive at night. -- Ability to use hand tools, power tools---etc. --
Ability to lay out column spacing for new installs. Supervisory
Responsibility This position does not have supervisory
responsibilities. Work Environment and Equipment Used This job
operates in a field environment. Equipment used includes hand
tools; power tools; lift equipment; material handling equipment,
ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, gloves; safety glasses, lanyard and

commonly used include screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, welders, and

coordination/manual dexterity: Frequent. -- Rotation: Frequent. --
Physical demand level: Moderate. Material handling: -- Floor to
waist: Occasional. Lifting may be performed at all levels from
floor to overhead, up to 100 pounds. -- Pushing/pulling:

Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Normal
days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
but this is a 24/7 service position. This position regularly
requires long hours (up to but not to exceed 14 hours) and weekend
work. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business days,
although out-of-town and overnight travel is expected. Benefits
