Job Description:
SUMMARY: Responsible for the supervision and management of the
Finance/Backoffice Departments including direction, coordination
and development of the general accounting and Backoffice functions.
Ensures the accurate preparation of financial statements and
reports. Provides development, direction and guidance to Finance
and Backoffice Department staff to ensure a high level of accuracy
and audit compliance. Coordinates and communicates accounting
requirements with operational responsibilities. Requires
comprehensive knowledge of credit union policies. Responsible for
the completion of Finance and Backoffice Department procedures and
support of credit union policies. Provides support to Chief
Financial Officer and Senior Management as needed.REPORTS TO: Chief
Financial OfficerDEPARTMENT: Finance/Backoffice _Essential Duties
and Responsibilities:1. Manage the Finance Department. Establish
minimum expectations of personnel, coordinate workflows within the
department based on the overall needs of the credit union, manage
internal and external communication channels, and affect overall
problem resolution. Understand and communicate credit union
policies to staff and direct staff in the development of
procedures.2. Ensure that staff members are trained to handle all
situations within the department. Monitor work schedules and
provide continual cross-training to ensure back up for all
department functions. Responsible for the effective communication
and coordination of finance/backoffice department activities with
all internal and external customers. Responsible for employee
counseling, performance evaluations, training, motivation and
discipline of employees within the Finance/Backoffice Department.3.
Ensure that credit union polices, procedures, laws and regulations
are adhered to by the credit union. Develop and effect the
completion and adherence of procedures and practices. Assist senior
management in the development of credit union policies.4. Oversee
Accounting Function and the General Ledger. Responsible for the
daily balancing of general ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts.
Ensure the proper controls are in place to comply with generally
accepted accounting principals (GAAP), the National Credit Union
Administration (NCUA), and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsible for the accurate interpretation of tax liabilities and
Strata Credit Union compliance with applicable tax laws.5.
Responsible for the daily management of all cash accounts.
Effectively communicates liquidity needs and alternative sources to
Senior Management.6. Ensure financial statements and reports are
completed in a timely and accurate manner.7. Assist staff in the
research and resolution of monetary adjustments. Maintain credit
and debit card sub-ledgers, researching and clearing outstanding
items.8. Manage the ATM and ACH back-office functions. Ensure
compliance with NACHA rules and regulations, and all applicable
laws and regulations. Ensure the balancing and posting of daily
CUDL activity.9. Manage the back-office Share Draft Function.
Ensure staff resolves share draft issues, including the exception
report, share draft clearing differences, payroll posting
differences and balance specified general ledger accounts.10.
Manage the Accounts Payable Function. Ensure all disbursements meet
the minimum expectations of financial controls and liquidity
management.11. Complete mandatory BSA training annually.12. Manage
the Payroll function. Responsible for the collection of time
sheets, payroll taxes, paid time-off accruals and the accurate and
timely processing of payroll.13. Provide assistance to Chief
Financial Officer and senior management in the management of daily
operations, and support the credit union's strategic
objectives.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:14. Perform other
duties as assigned by senior management.EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related
financial field and two to five years finance experience acting in
a supervisory capacity. Requires ability to responsibly supervise
staff and the ability to work effectively with all levels of
management. Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Word & Excel and
basic computer programs. Strong organizational, analytical and
communication skills are required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical

regularly required to see, talk, hear and use standard office
