Human Domain Solutions, LLC is seeking candidates to fill the role of Psychiatrist at the Department of Mental Health within the Veteram Affairs Greater Los Angeles Health System (VAGLAHS). The Psychiatrist plans, conducts, and coordinates all aspects of diagnostic assessments, evaluations and therapeutic interventions. The psychiatrist must demonstrate professional knowledge of, and skill in applying, a wide range of theories, principles, and methodologies of the practice of psychiatry to a wide range of populations. *Please note candidate must be an independent licensed practitioner.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The psychiatrist conducts, plans, and coordinates all clinical and administrative aspects of a full range of services associated with contemporary psychiatry practice.The psychiatrist is responsible for independent diagnostic assessment and evaluation of cases that are referred for psychiatry services without limitation as to difficulty or complexity. The psychiatrist is responsible for the adequacy of assessment.The psychiatrist will cooperate in formulating diagnostic and clinical judgments; assesses patient condition from close observation and consultation with other members of the inter- disciplinary health care team; and utilizing all diagnostic and evaluative procedures and techniques consistent with contemporary psychiatry practice.Psychiatrist is responsible for planning, conducting, coordinating, and monitoring the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of patient-centered treatment and rehabilitative services to maximize and restore to the greatest extent possible physical and social functioning.The psychiatrist develops and implements an effective and comprehensive treatment plan of care in collaboration with other health care practitioners; establishes and maintains an effective therapy relationship with the patient, family and caregivers; and adjusts treatment plan to patient response and indicators of progress.Psychiatrist is responsible for mental status evaluations, formulations, diagnosis (es) and detailed treatment plans utilizing a Biopsychosocial paradigm. The Psychiatrist may need to make referrals for further diagnostic psychological or medical testing as needed.Psychiatrist is responsible for; individual, group, family, and pharmacologic therapeutic interventions as necessary, crisis intervention and referral for psychiatric hospitalization; psychotherapy to include group, individual, behavior modification, cognitive behavioral, family and marital, and drug therapy.Psychiatrist is responsible to work as a team member with other psychiatrist(s), social worker(s), psychologist(s), and behavior science specialist(s)-including medical students, interns, residents, and fellows-to; coordinate evaluations, treatment planning, and referrals, determine the need for supplemental data such as psychosocial history, medical history, neurological or other medical procedures or tests, etc, establish diagnosis and treatment plans for each patient. Consult with other psychiatrists in difficult and complex cases.Psychiatrist is responsible to; work within the framework of approved medical and psychiatric practices, review patient histories and social work evaluations, interview patients to obtain insight into their problems and determine the need for long-term residential treatment, prepare inpatient workup to include history and physician plan, and participate in service and department peer review.Psychiatrist serves as a consultant to other facility personnel involving the most difficult and complex cases and is a recognized subject matter expert on matters related to mental health disorders.Psychiatrist will complete all documentation in accordance with facility policy.The Psychiatrist shall ensure documentation and reports are legible and verify the content and correctness of all prepared reports by affixing his/her electronic signature to all documents.As required, the Psychiatrist shall use CPRS to manage patients and medical information and communicate with other health care providers and ancillary staff.The contract Psychiatrist is required to annotate and sign medical records in accordance with VA regulations.VA staff may randomly review contract Psychiatrist annotated patient medical records. VA staff will note defects, omissions, addenda, etc., and contract personnel shall make required corrections.Communication is required by this position and the psychiatrist will be expected to attend regular staff meetings and inter-disciplinary health care team meetings as appropriate; review policies and procedures and attend in-service training.ADMISSION /ATTENDING RESPONSIBILITIES:The Psychiatrist shall, to the maximum extent practicable, ensure that VA inpatient resources are utilized for all VA beneficiaries. Should a VA beneficiary require services or care beyond the capabilities of the VA, as determined by the attending physician and VA Chief of Staff (COS) or his/her designee, that patient shall be transferred to an appropriate Government or civilian medical treatment facility based upon patient condition.The Psychiatrist shall coordinate all transfers with the VA Utilization Review Nurse prior to actual transfer.The Psychiatrist shall seek the approval of the Utilization Review Nurse or designee before performing other actions for non-emergent surgical procedures or treatments. --Be subject to the same quality assurance standards in meeting or exceeding current recognized National Standards as established by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO). Copies of the quality assurance standards are on file in the Medical HCG and will be available to the Contractor. --Perform services in accordance with the ethical, professional, and technical standards of the healthcare industry as consistent with VA policy, regulations, and procedures. --Be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the Government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.RequirementsThe Psychiatrist shall be a Doctor of Medicine. The physician shall have completed a psychiatric residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and be board certified in psychiatry.The Psychiatrist shall possess a current valid unrestricted license to practice in the specialty of psychiatry in one of the 50 states in the United States, or District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory. Subject to pre-employment credentialing of VA Health Care Provider IAW AR 690-300.Applicants must provide evidence of at least one full, active, current and unrestricted licensure, registration, certification, and/or other relevant credentials for verification prior to appointment and throughout the employment process, as requested.They must agree to accept the professional obligations delineated in the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations provide to them. Physicians must maintain current and active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and provide copy of BLS certification. (http://vhaglaweb3.v22.med.va.gov/Corporate/Bylaws2019.pdf)Must provide written verification of credentials to include the following: Certified documentation of education, training and, license; Documentation of experience; and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;Psychiatric services: To qualify for physician fee schedule payment for psychiatric services furnished under an approved GME program, the physician must meet the requirements of ----415.170 and 415.172, including documentation, except that the requirement for the presence of the teaching physician during the service in which a resident is involved may be met by observation of the service by use of a one-way mirror, video equipment, or similar device.In the performance of official duties, the psychiatrist has regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive data that must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy.The psychiatrist is responsible for: protecting the data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion and following applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in the access agreement which the psychiatrist signs.Psychiatrist uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; activating printers; inserting and deleting text, formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving e-mail.Psychiatrist uses application in the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA), Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), and other authorized data sources to access information pertinent to the performance of these duties and responsibilities.BenefitsHuman Domain Solutions, LLC is pleased to offer a benefits package which may include:Health, Dental and Vision Plans401K Retirement PlanGenerous PTO in addition to Ten (10) Federal HolidaysDirect Deposit*All plans are eligible first of the month coinciding with or following hire date.
