Improves the quality and effectiveness of a region's overall health
care program by providing leadership, coordinating and facilitating
the evaluation and improvement of a wide range of programs.
Collaborates with hospital and ambulatory clinic leadership at the
regional level to develop effective plans. Supports system level
initiatives such as major capitol projects and joint ventures.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
- Creates the regional clinical strategy for use of technology
and optimizes the use of existing clinical systems across a
designated region of 3- 6 facilities and associated ambulatory
clinics. Provides strategic leadership for the professional
advancement and development of all informatics staff. Serves as a
expert consult to facility, clinic, and regional senior leadership
on the use of technology to meet the strategic and operational
needs of the organization
- Provides leadership and oversight for a comprehensive
informatics program, with a primary focus on clinical practice,
administration, and research in support of interdisciplinary,
patient focused care. Leads clinical informatics plans, data
analysis programs, creation of informatics policies and procedures
and serves as a champion for complex clinical projects and
- Participates and oversees system design, test, implementation,
documentation, validation, analysis, processes re-engineering,
education, training, conversion, to ensure optimum success with
ROI. Coordinates the collection and reporting of metrics defining
benefits realization, and return on investment associated with
Clinical Information Systems. Directs the analysis of ROI metrics
- Promotes an environment that supports the conduct and
utilization of research in practice and a spirit of inquiry.
Promotes innovative approaches to solving legacy problems,
including notel technical and workflow approaches. Remains current
of IT industry changes and federally mandated programs especially
in in EHR related field. Acts as business sponsor for new change
and is a role model for effective change management strategies.
This position is a role model for use of innovation in healthcare
and sets appropriate targets for professional development within
their staff members.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or
additional job related experience in lieu of the degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare experience and minimum
of five (5) years of leadership experience. Licensure:
- In an acute care setting: Clinical licensure in one of the
following: Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, Radiological Technologist,
Clinical Lab Scientist, Respiratory Therapist, Occupational
Therapist, Physical Therapist, or other clinical specialty
requiring specific education. In an ambulatory setting: Job-related
