Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Telemetry Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights, every other weekend, first to float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Proficiency in administering cardiac drips, superb time management, and multitasking skills Job Description: - Clinical team will pre-screen all candidates. Managers will conduct a second interview. - Cerner experience is required. - This position is not for first-time travelers. - Unit type: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry with 30 beds. - Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1 for both day and night shifts. - The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. - Additional equipment includes pagers linked to the call light system and internal spectra link phones. - Unit orientation includes one full day on this unit and 4 hours of cross-training on other potential float units. - Nurse aides are available depending on the census, with varying numbers for day and night. - Charge nurse is available and does not take patients unless necessary and must have ACLS. - Shifts are 12 hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. - Compliance with break times is required as per CA law. - Nurses work every other weekend or the equivalent in a four-week schedule. For night shifts, weekends include Friday and Saturday. - Scrub color is navy blue, including scrub jackets and undershirts (which may also be white or black). - This unit does not handle ventilators and has no dedicated IV team; assistance is available from ICU and ER for difficult IV sticks. - Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy are available 24/7. - Patient types include telemetry and cardiac telemetry, with the unit also serving intermittently as a COVID unit. It is a fast-paced environment with non-diagnostic cath lab patients. - Travelers are the first to float to other units, including Med-Surg and telemetry units. - Hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments. - Floating may include a brief orientation to the Med-Surgical and Telemetry units.
