Job Title: CVOR RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 3 years of CVOR experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Experience titrating medications - Assisting perfusionists - Drawing labs - Assisting anesthesia with lines - Setting up IV medications and programming pumps Description: Cerner is required. No first-time travelers or duos. There are 10 OR rooms. Room usage includes neuro cases, total joint implants, major vascular, dedicated heart cases, robotics, and general surgeries. The average number of cases per day is 30 between all 10 rooms. Common cases include neuro, total joints, major vascular, hearts, general, gynecology, urology, plastics, and a small amount of podiatry. No ophthalmology or bariatric cases are performed. Scrubbing is not required for RNs; it is done by surgical techs. A permanent charge nurse is present on days. RNs rotate charge responsibilities on Monday PMs or during charge RN vacations. There is no charge RN on weekends. RNs on call assume coordination of cases. Scrubbing is performed by surgical techs, while first assist duties are done by RN first assistants. There are 7 nursing assistants to help facilitate turnover, gather equipment, and handle patient transport. Shift starts are typically at 6:30 AM with 8 and 10 hour shifts. There is one day off during the week. Call is required 2-3 times per week. Weekend call occurs every third weekend. Weeknight call starts at 2 PM and ends at 6:30 AM. Holiday and call schedules are rotated among CVOR RNs based on staffing levels. Response time for call is 30 minutes. Floating between all OR rooms is expected. Surgery schedulers are available from 7 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. RNs schedule surgeries after hours and on weekends. The facility has a cancellation policy allowing up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using Cerner. A BSN is not required. Trauma Level is unspecified. Care setting is acute. Shift arrangement consists of 5x8s with call required.
