Job Description Certification Details - BLS - California RN
License Job Details - Under the supervision of a nurse leader,
independently prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to
the acutely ill patient. - Performs the nursing process through
assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe,
therapeutic care for patients. - Scope of practice in accordance
with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics and
California Nurse Practice Act Board of Registered Nurses of the
State of California. - Creates and sustains an environment that
supports compassionate caring through authentic presence with the
patient and family. - Collects and documents data for assigned
patients according to prescribed methods. - Interprets assessment
data to determine physiological and/or psychosocial risk factors,
records and reports variances from normal parameters. -
Collaborates with patient, family and healthcare team to develop
individualized plan of care. - Implements nursing and physician
orders safely. - Uses education, experience and interpretation of
assessment data to prioritize nursing actions. - Establishes
nursing diagnoses, formulates written plan of care, evaluates
effectiveness and revises as necessary. - Manages rapidly changing
situations and activates emergency protocols as needed. - Performs
and documents nursing process consistent with scientific principles
and hospital policy. - Coordinates patient care activities with
nurses, physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. - Collaborates
effectively within the care team. - Assures quality of care by
adhering to therapeutic standards and evidence-based practices. -
Provides safe care by adhering to infection control policies,
medication administration and controlled substance regulations. -
Participates in staff meetings, professional governance councils,
evaluation and standards development for nursing practice. -
Completes all competencies, mandatory classes and educational
coursework required by the Department of Nursing. - Attains
knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice. -
Adheres to hospital-approved policies and procedures and RN scope
of practice as defined by BRN licensure. - Compliant with ANA Code
of Ethics, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and KMC
Professional Practice Model. - Monitors own practices and assists
in monitoring others for patient and employee safety and
compliance. - Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in care of
populations served by Kern Medical facilities. Job Requirements - 3
years of experience. - Valid and unrestricted State of California
Registered Nurse License (RN License). - Possess and maintain
current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life
Support (BLS) card. - Employees must maintain all health
requirements designated by Kern Medical Center. - Depending on
assignment, incumbents may be required to possess and maintain
specific certificates of competency as a condition of employment. -
Must have knowledge of advanced theory, techniques and practices of
nursing; medical terminology, instruments and equipment; uses and
effects of medicines and narcotics. Additional Details - Preferred
experience in Med Surg or ER.
