with Cynet Health to find a qualified NICU RN in San Luis Obispo,
California, 93405! Job Title: RN II-NICU Profession: Registered
Nurse Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours
per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years NICU experience
required License: Current RN license in state of practice required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
Must-Have: Associate Degree in Nursing required Bachelor's Degree
in Nursing preferred Previous neonatal transport experience
preferred Experience attending deliveries for neonatal
resuscitation purposes preferred Description: Provides planning,
coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients in the
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on specified shifts. Responsible for
care planning, medication administration, noting physiological
changes, and addressing psychosocial needs of neonates. Educates
and trains the patient and their family. Supervises and delegates
care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of
practice. Cross-trained and floats to Pediatrics as needed.
Provides appropriate nursing interventions for both stable and
critically ill newborns. Demonstrates competence in routine nursing
skills including medication administration and intravenous therapy.
Manages care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains.
Ensures safe use of medical equipment in the neonatal intensive
care environment. Demonstrates knowledge and skills in caring for
neonates requiring mechanical ventilation and other ventilatory
support devices. Provides developmentally and environmentally
appropriate care. Interprets hemodynamic monitoring and manages
neonate's status effectively. Identifies abnormal lab values and
notifies the physician as needed. Exercises appropriate clinical
judgment in managing life-threatening emergencies. Interprets ECG
rhythms accurately and manages care during emergencies. Understands
and follows the established chain of command. Knowledgeable in
fluid and electrolyte management. Understands infant nutrition and
feeding practices. Provides psychosocial support to families
throughout the newborn's hospitalization. Initiates
multidisciplinary, family-centered, goal-oriented care plans in
collaboration with healthcare team members. Educates families
regarding newborn care, including in-hospital and post-discharge
instructions. Utilizes teaching methods tailored to the condition
and culture of the caregivers. Completes accurate and timely
documentation of all nursing care provided. Conducts necessary
safety and quality control checks as per unit requirements.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Committed to the
