Pupil Activity Instructor (SPAB) in Bakersfield, CA! Position
Overview:The State certified SPAB Instructor at Coach USA is
responsible for overseeing driver trainings at depot. This would
include classroom in service and behind the wheel driver trainings
for SPAB as well annual trainings, refreshers etc. All training
follows all State & Federal guidelines including California Highway
Patrol, Department of Education and Department of Motor Vehicles.
This position would also oversee the training team and their
schedules. This position would also require SPAB training for
drivers at our Anaheim and Sacramento depots and would require
travel as needed. Essential Functions:Deliver and maintain
classroom, and behind-the-wheel (BTW) School Pupil Activity Bus
(SPAB) driver training program.Oversee the development and
maintenance of an effective and efficient classroom and
behind-the-wheel driver training program.Maintain an accurate and
effective recordkeeping system for the training department and make
appropriate recommendations for improvement.Maintain required
records of drivers and delegated behind-the-wheel trainers within
the company.Train and evaluate applicants requesting SPAB
certification. Train, test, and evaluate applicants and new
hires.Research, develop, and test new approaches for bus driver
training for both classroom and behind-the-wheel.Maintain current
and up-to-date training manuals.Consult with the area CHP school
bus officer or coordinator regarding driver applicant's testing
results. Oversee and manage training team scheduling. Schedule:Must
be flexibleMonday- Friday8:00 AM to 5:00 PMMust be available on off
hours and weekends as training happens when drivers are available.
Travel to our Anaheim and Sacramento locations as needed.Required
Skills:Three years of experience operating Motor Coach vehicles
requiring a Class A or B commercial driver license.A driving record
with no chargeable accidents in any vehicle within three
years.Principles, concepts, and techniques of driving, inspecting,
and managing passengers on vehicles of the appropriate type and
sizeCalifornia Vehicle Code; California Education Code; California
Code of Regulations, Title 5 and Title 13 sections related to
transportationAll motor-carrier policies relating to the operation
and transportation of passengersExcellent communication and
presentation skills.Time ManagementAdaptabilityMust be highly
organized in order to juggle multiple drivers & trainers, meet
deadlines, and follow proper guidelinesThe desire to teach as well
as public speaking experienceGood listening ability What we
