Job SummaryThe Fabrication Mechanic IV, under increasingly limited supervision, will perform fabrication work including, but not limited to, cutting, welding, sheetmetal working, metal finishing, and assembly of machinery.Essential Functions of the JobThe Fabrication Mechanic IV has gained full proficiency or mastery in a broad range of activities associated with the job functions noted below. The Fabrication Mechanic IV can work independently and performs a wide range of complex duties with minimal to no supervision.

• Fabricate/modify increasingly complex fixtures, machinery, and miscellaneous fittings. Fabrication will involve laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding various metals and other materials to create desired object or system.
• Is knowledgeable or increasingly develops knowledge in welding standards in order to create the desired outcome of engineering projects and follows standard operating procedures
• Work from increasingly complex drawings, blueprints, manuals and verbal/written instructions on installation, repair, replacement and /or maintenance involving machinery, plumbing & piping, and in some cases electrical.
• Has or increasingly develops equipment troubleshooting skills and, under limited supervision, troubleshoot and repair problems on machinery, process equipment and facility systems and components
• Initiate purchase orders for parts, machines or contracted services.
• Be increasingly self-motivated and proactive in identifying and correcting mechanical and safety issues.
• The Fabrication Mechanic IV will have gained full proficiency or mastery in most core skills to perform the above work include welding (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), sheet metal working, pipefitting, plumbing, machining (mill, lathe), engineering drawing interpretation, equipment repair troubleshooting, heavy machinery rigging (> 1000 lb), basic math and geometryEducation / Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Welding certifications desirable
