Our Psychiatric Technician provides clinical services to
residents under the direction of the Nursing Manager or designated
RN; establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with
residents; participates in community meetings and therapeutic
groups; assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs)
and documents observations; and provides one-on-one direct
observation of residents, when assigned.
Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program, or
otherwise qualified for California licensure as a Psychiatric
Technician is preferred.
Six (6) months experience working in an acute mental health
treatment setting within the past four years preferred.
Qualified for California licensure as a Psychiatric Technician.
Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with
residents. Helps to ensure the unit is a therapeutic
Attends, participates in, and facilitates, as needed, community
meetings and therapeutic groups.
Participates as a team member in all unit activities, reports
observations, and documents observations.
Assists residents with maintaining ADLs.
Teaches residents how to independently complete ADLs.
Provides 1-on-1 observation of residents, as assigned.
Responsible for having a basic understanding of accreditation
standards as applicable to the AES Center.
Interrelates and works effectively with AES Center staff and
Maintains the confidentiality of resident information in
accordance with The Company policy and procedure, state law, site
policy and applicable regulatory standards.
Completes specific duties and responsibilities as designated by
the Nursing Manager or Program Director.
Provides crisis intervention services to residents as referred
by institutional and medical staff or to self- referred residents.
Crisis intervention may require consultation with institutional
staff regarding management/ treatment concerns, referral, and/or
mental health follow-up. Crisis intervention duties may be assigned
by the Nursing Manager or Program Director after normal working
hours and weekends.
Completes relevant documentation in the health record regarding
the residents participation in mental health treatment.
Provides support and/or monitoring of residents condition as
assigned by the Nursing Manager or Program Director.
Participates in staff meetings and in-service training
Maintains accountability for services provided through timely
and accurate recording of activities through participation in the
Quality Improvement program
Compliance with employee standards of the AES Center. Compliance
includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a professional
working environment and personal appearance consistent with
professional responsibilities, development of harmonious working
relationships, and timely notification of supervisory personnel of
absences from institution.
May be required to participate in a system of 24-hour crisis
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a
variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow
standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of
instructions and apply knowledge to different factual
