Leading Insurance Company, AssuredPartners - Tolman & Wiker, is seeking an Account Representative to add to their Commercial Lines team!

Salary: $45,000 to $50,000 annually depending on experience 

Location: 5001 California Ave Suite 150 Bakersfield, CA, 93309 (in-office with some remote flexibility down the line)

Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM PST (full-time non-exempt) New-Hires MUST be able to go in the office.

Commercial Account Representative Role Summary:

Assist Commercial Account Managers in the day-to-day service of assigned accounts, the processing of documents and the maintenance of computer-based client files. Be familiar with all assigned accounts in order to act as a backup to Account Managers as needed. Independently handle several small accounts. Must provide prompt, accurate, and courteous account service to clients, co-workers, and insurance company representatives. Support and promote the company’s purpose, vision, and missions. Always act in the best interest of the client and our firm. Must uphold and embody the corporate values of integrity, leadership, teamwork, respect, professionalism, and stability


Commercial Account Representative Requirements:

  • Two to four years insurance broker agency experience
  • Active California Fire & Casualty Broker-Agent license
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office software with the ability to quickly learn various other software programs
  • Ability to accurately type 50 words per minute
  • Exceptional customer service skills as evidenced by prior experience in a client-oriented position
  • Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to work on several tasks at once with frequent interruptions while meeting sensitive timeframes
  • Excellent oral and written English communication and strong figure aptitude skills normally acquired through completion of college-level studies

Commercial Account Representative Responsibilities Include:

  • Receive requests, document, and issue ACORD and company-specific insurance forms(Certificates of Insurance, Evidence of Property, Automobile Identification Cards, etc.), in accordance with T&W’s binding authority and procedures
  • Process mail, phone inquiries, and miscellaneous communications to/from insureds and insurance companies according to T&W procedures or as directed. Create and complete, as appropriate, necessary suspense in the agency management system.
  • Check and process policy changes (including Lost Policy Releases, Cancellation Requests, and Reinstatements), endorsements, agency bill final audits, etc. Check policies for accuracy.
  • Complete and send renewal letters for Workers’ Compensation and General Liability policies
  • Prepare information for Workers’ Compensation renewal, update system, send for an online rating or quoting.
  • Check Workers’ Compensation and General Liability Final Audits for accuracy
  • Transmit semi-annual check audit letters as requested
  • Send Workers’ Compensation update requests to insureds and prepare marketing submissions as directed by Account Manager
  • Document transactions (Activities) within T&W’s agency management system. Scan and attach documents in the system as needed.
  • Miscellaneous clerical support duties for Account Manager and Producers
  • Handle all aspects of a book comprised of small accounts (only after mastery of all listed duties has been demonstrated)
  • Participate in continuing education as needed to support the book of business and maintenance of an insurance license 
  • Mentor and train Commercial Account Coordinators
  • Other duties as assigned

Commercial Account Representative Competencies:


  • Insurance knowledge – minimum score of 75% on Account Assistant exam
  • Systems proficiency – AMS 360, MS Word/Excel – demonstrated ability to navigate with ease
  • Completion of work to our standards as based on account audits and client/producer feedback
  • Capable of training other peer and subordinate staff members
  • Performs duties independently and takes ownership of all assignments


  • Create activities and suspense in AMS 360
  • Process standard requests from Companies and Insureds including Certificates, Evidences of property, Policy Binders, Cancellation, and Reinstatement Notices
  • Workers’ Comp policy checks


  • Acts as a positive contributor both as an individual and team member, consistently exhibiting a can-do attitude
  • Is helpful, friendly, and discrete
  • Is able to maintain composure when working to resolve issues and when working under pressure
  • Has a strong sense of urgency and is able to meet deadlines
  • Attendance & Punctuality – Is very reliable and punctual, staying within allotted paid time off bank limits and exhibiting excellent adherence to policies related to paid time off
