BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Assists with a wide range of routine assignments for the EH&S Department including inspection of facilities; assistance in the incident investigation; audit jobs in progress; monitoring contractors; conducting training sessions and assisting with environmental sampling in support of all SJV operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs regular inspections at the company's Facilities and contractor worksites of field safety equipment including fire extinguishers; respirators; fire systems; eyewash stations; emergency response equipment; etc. and makes arrangements for testing and repairs as necessary.
Conducts regular inspections of facilities and job activities for compliance with safety and environmental policies and regulations.
Assist in developing and participating in training sessions on a variety of environmental, safety, and operational subjects.
Audits jobs in progress for proper use of JSA's (job planning), approved permits, safe procedures, and PPE.
Assist in creating Action plans to address all Gaps in the EH&S Management System working directly with the Operations, Construction, and Drilling Teams.
Assist Contractors in creating Action Plans for addressing Gaps in their EH&S MS and document progress in the internal database.
Conduct gas testing prior to issuance of Safe/Hot Work/Confined Space Permits. Provide Attendant duties as needed for Confined Space Entries.
Assist in Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis for all areas of responsibility. Document in the internal database.
Provides a regular field representation of the EH&S Department.
Assists in environmental sampling when needed.
Participate in job planning meetings and assist in creating Sim-Op's Plans when necessary.
Participates in Incident Management Team.
Any and all other duties as requested by management.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an Oil and Gas related job preferred
Two-year degree/technical preferred or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
Familiar with using MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Ability to comprehend and apply federal, state, and local occupational safety and environmental requirements to our worksites.
Ability to conduct hazard evaluations.
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with personnel and contract personnel from other Departments.
Technical writing skills with the ability to prepare reports, and maintain records.
Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines and to maintain flexibility in prioritizing work responsibilities.
Hold current 24 / 40-hour HAZWOPER and basic First Aid/CPR certificates.
Possess a valid CA driver's license for the applicable state with a clean driving record.
