DescriptionJOB TITLE: Charge Nurse
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide
quality-nursing care to patients, coordinating care, and
implementing provides assistance to House Supervisor as needed, and
supervision to support clinical staff members. In addition, the
position is responsible for overseeing nursing service functions
specific to their department during the assigned shift. The role
also may include responsibilities and duties that include, but not
limited to delegating, scheduling, assignments, monitoring, and
assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed Registered Nurse with current
state licensure. BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in an acute care facility
required, with experience in coordinating unit. Previous experience
as a charge nurse or shift leader preferred.
- Monitors and coordinates the daily patient care activities of
the unit; assists the Director, Manager, and House Supervisor with
staff schedules to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at
all times and to ensure effective patient services.
- Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related
- Oversees and provides direct nursing assistance and/or other
related care and consultation to patients as required.
- Coordinates services with other patient care units as required;
maintains strong communication skills with various departments to
maintain community liaison as appropriate.
- Assist and participate in quality metrics and compliance to
standards of operations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and
supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and
